Moodboard Monday: Nursery Inspiration

Morning y'all! Thank you so much for all of the Baby Love following Friday's little (big) announcement.  We are so thrilled and it's fun to actually be able to share the excitement with everyone.

So basically, I have to wait TWO WHOLE MONTHS before I find out what I'm having.  I know.  It's brutal.  I feel very strongly that I'm having one over the other.  It has nothing to do with preference, but more with the way I'm feeling this time around so I'm interested to see if my instincts are correct or not.   But for now I have time to explore all of my options in terms of decorating the nursery.  If it's a girl, obviously there will be a lot of pink.  If it's a boy, I won't change much, but I did find some bedding I kind of like (see below) so I may sell the old stuff and get something new (don't tell Kip).

Here's a nursery I saw on pinterest the other day that has the overall feel of what I want happening in my nursery regardless of whether it's a boy or a girl.

(original source here - but I'm not totally sure it's a legit site, so if you recognize it as being from somewhere else or you're like, "hey that's creepy that's my nursery" let me know)

Simple and pretty right?

Here's the wallpaper I'm working with:

It came with the house!  It's cream and gray and I absolutely love it, especially for a nursery.

And here are just a few things I like:

I really want to put a chandelier in the room.

Pottery Barn Mia Faceted Crystal Pendant

Restoration Hardware French Regency Crystal Pendant

Restoration Hardware Washed Velvet in Silver Mist
Restoration Hardware Vintage Washed Belgian Linen

Restoration Hardware Washed Organic Linen

Nothing too wild, if even kind of boring, but I want the room to be simple, quiet, soft and elegant. I'm actually going more babyish than I did with Edward's nursery, which was bold and fun.  (You can see it here)

What do you think?

Oh and because it's Monday, here are two moodboards I did a long time ago that I still like.

A Blue and White Nursery

A Peter Pan Nursery

All right loves, that's all I got today.  Have a lovely Monday!

Moodboard Monday: Baby Boy's Peter Pan Nursery

Morning y'all! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.  I'm not gonna lie I was once again unimpressed with the Super Bowl commercials.  I did cry at one commercial after the game that had kids winning their athletic events.  I don't even remember what it was for, but I started picturing Edward scoring his first goal in soccer and I lost it.  I'm crying right now.  This is embarrassing.  I'm not even drunk or pregnant.

Anyway, here's a moodboard for y'all today.  It's sort of a Peter Pan theme in honor of this evening's Jake & the Never Land Pirates: Peter Pan Returns.  It's my husband's Edward's favorite show, and the return of Peter Pan is pretty epic.

Baby Boy's Peter Pan Nursery
It's fairly simple.  I love the idea of plaid carpet in a little boy's nursery.  I fell in love with this handmade Neverland wallpaper after a lovely reader sent me the sweetest email.  She works for a UK company called Unique Boutique that sells some really fun and dare I say it, unique, items.   If you're bored or in the mood to procrastinate, you should check them out.  They also have a sister company called Unique Home Stays, which will occupy the rest of your hours as you daydream about future vacays you have to take.  I will show you my favesie tomorrow ;)

In honor of Madonna's Super Bowl halftime show, World Peace y'all.*

*I'm so happy that Madonna's for world peace.  It's always nice to know what side of the issue a celebrity is on so that I can judge them appropriately.

Moodboard Monday: A Blue & White Nursery

I actually think this nursery could totally work for a baby girl.  Did you know blue used to be the color associated with baby girls because it was considered more dainty and delicate than pink, a strong color associated with boys? I can see it.  My dad, the football player manly man, always wears pink.  I love when guys wear pink. My husband wore pink pants to our rehearsal dinner, which made me infinitely happy.  Anyway, I digress.  I would love to have this nursery.  Beautiful white molding, blue and white diamond pattern Stark Carpet and monogrammed Leontine Linens (if you have room, I highly recommend putting a bed in the nursery, even if it's just a twin).  I know, usually people with newborns can't afford this kind of nursery (ok, usually people can't afford this kind of nursery), but a sleep deprived mama of a runny-nosed little man can dream, right?  Nurseries are the most fun to decorate!

Oh Heyy Guys!

It's Edward.  Bloggin' for my mama. She is kind of freaking out right now.  It may have something to do with the fact that I jumped out of my crib last night.  I mean, I don't see what the big deal is.  I'm not hurt or anything, but she's all, "you can't go back in there until it's lowered!" But see it's really hard for me to sleep in their bed with them because all I want to do is play.  Soo we're downstairs playing with my toys at 4 am.  As I type this blog post, my mom is enjoying the tunes coming from every single one of my toys that plays music.  It's awesome. I press every button that can be pressed and it's like a symphony! I can tell she loves it.

Soo she might be able to bring you a Suzeday Tuesday post later this afternoon, if I can nap in my crib.  Until then enjoy this awesome nursery.

For the record, I could totally scale this crib.

Slims Aarons Nursery and Other Big Pics

I looked upon this nursery with covetous eyeballs when I saw it on the D Home blog the other day.  Y'all know I love that Slim Aarons and his photographs of fancy people being fancy.

The large mural comes from a London-based website called Surface View.  They sell ready-to-buy canvas prints, wall murals and blinds.  They can also do custom orders as well.  You have to be careful with wall murals because they can easily look cheese-tastic HGTV Design Star-ish. Here are a few of their large ready to roll murals that I think would be cool in a room.  I'm in a mood board mood so let me know which one's your fave and I'll maybe do a mood board around it!

Hump-Day Happies: Etsy Prints from Trafalgar's Square

I have been spending a lot of time in the nursery this week.  A lot.  The munchkin is teething and has a cold and has a habit of climbing to a standing position the second he opens his eyes.  It's pretty amazing how quickly he gets up there and I'm pretty sure he's confused about why he's standing once he fully wakes up.

Oh heeeyy Buddy!

Needless to say, lots of late nights rocking and staring at the wall (or my little man who is an adorable mouth-breather at the moment).  One of my favorite elements of the nursery are the baby elephant prints I ordered from Trafalgar's Square on Etsy.

I just think they are so sweet.  I found them long before I was even married.  I remember thinking I would use them in my nursery someday.  It's sort of surreal that "someday" is now.  But really, how sweet is this little guy?

If I ever write a children's book (which I would love to do someday), they would have to be my illustrators.  Note: The Suze only likes children's books with "sweet illustrations."  "Make sure there are sweet pictures and take note of the illustrator," she says.  Perhaps her penchant for aesthetically appealing children's books is why I only like to look at pretty things now.

Anyway, Trafalgar's Square has a number of new prints and characters and they are all so adorable.  Here are some of my favorites:

Wishing On A Star

Baby Mine

A Little Bird Told Me

Keep Rolling

Royal Lion

Royal Sea Turtle

Soaring

They also have Trafalgar's Paper Co, which has notecards, invitations and bookplates.  I think I may use the last image for Edward's first birthday invitation.  His favorite toy is Sophie the Giraffe and he loves anything red so this would be perfect.  I can't believe I'm already thinking about that!

For more nursery images see my original post Then Comes Baby in a Baby Carriage.

Happy Hump-Day!

No, not Scott from Morocco.

and no, not this guy.

Mariah Carey's twin bebes duh! She may have chosen questionable names (after the frustrating ordeal of trying to name my own child I have vowed never to judge another person's baby name, but an adjective name? hmmm it's just, well, new). However, she did a pretty fancy job gussying up the nurseries and me likey. Espesh the giant giraffe, the little canopies over the cribs and the fresh green and white color scheme.  I'm excited to pick up an issue of Life & Style to see more!

Children With Fancier Rooms Than Moi

I have all of these random pictures that I've saved in my files and since my computer is slowly letting me know it's over it, I feel like I need to get them out there for y'all.  So here ya are!

So pretty and feminine and classic

Baby Shep's Chic Nursery

Ok y'all my darling friend Whitney just had the most beautiful baby boy they call Shep (how cute is that?).  One of her dear friends, Christi of Candid Chic Photography, took the most amazing photos capturing those first tender moments with their new little pride and joy.  While I was looking through them crying and remembering the day I had my little man, I noticed she also captured her totally fab nursery.  They were sweet enough to let me share the photos with y'all!

I love hanging their little clothes up for all to see.  They're just too cute to keep hidden in a closet.

I love the idea of using a regular dresser for a changing table. I also love the  white spindle cribs.  They're so simple and classic.

Love everything! The baby blue walls, the ikat fabric on the ottoman, the adorable chevron toy baskets, the cow hide rug (it's Texas y'all), the little baby clothes and the bookshelf that shows the covers of the books.  It's so fun and fresh!

I spy a Jonathan Adler needlepoint pillow that I've been coveting for awhile! I love the gray zebra bolster pillows with orange piping as well.

If you have room, it is so nice to have a bed in the nursery.  It's great for guests and even just for  changing the baby's clothes or reading him a bedtime story.

Looks like baby Shep has one chic mama and daddy!

If you live in or around Dallas, Ft. Worth, Austin or Houston, and you have tiny little munchkins who need to be photographed (let's be honest they always need to be photographed, until they hit the awkward stage and even then us moms are going to want pictures) you must check out Candid Chic Photography.

Also, you can visit her blog here and even get a glimpse of tiny little Shep and his good-looking parents!

Lindsay's Baby Boy Nursery (I'm mood board crazay!)

Ok y'all, I haven't been this focused since I read the first Twilight book.  I'm having way too much fun, which probably means I need to get a life or do the laundry I should be doing while the wee man is napping.

My dear friend Lindsay is having a little bebe boy in July (hooray!) and is also in the process of building a house, thus she will be finishing her nursery after the big move.

She already has her bedding picked out.

Caden Lane Classic Hudson Bedding
And she loves these baby animal prints from The Animal Print Shop.

Also, she wants dark wood nursery furniture, and, while the walls are already a pale robin's egg blue, she wants to do something fun like different colored stripes on one wall.  I immediately thought of this image I saw on Elements of Style

So here 'tis!

{sources here}

FYI, the dresser in the background is meant to be a changing table.  I don't see the need to buy a separate changing table when you can place a changing table pad on top of a dresser and call it a day.  Hope you like it Lindsay!
