Have a Fantastic Weekend Team!

This is the bathroom of my dreams. If I could soak in that tub after a long day of toddler-wrestling and tense negotiations over new dinosaur acquisitions and suckers, well, my life would be perfect. I try not to think like that, but I'm gonna let myself today. I need a brain recharge. The other night I put Edward to bed only to have him calling for me 45 minutes later. That never happens. I walked in his room to find I never actually turned out the lights! He was just looking at me like, "silly mommy, how am I supposed to sleep in the light???" I'm just wondering what he did for that 45 minutes before notifying me of my oversight.

The fabulous tub situation above is from my hero Mary McDonald. She secured her place in my heart with her own house renovation on Million Dollar Decorators (see a video tour here and some great screen shots here). Her bedroom made me want to cry, I loved it so much. And now, she's gone and teamed up with Schumacher for a fab designer collaboration. It's right up my alley and has me wanting to save up my pennies to use it all over my house. My favorite is the Chinois Palais in Blush Conch. But oh to get my hands on all of those fabrics. It's so good y'all. Sooo good.

Morning y'all! These images make me feel very happy and inspired. Jewel-toned velvet and gold, floor to ceiling pattern, a gorgeous marble bathroom that still feels warm, my NY dream home, a perfect bedroom, and the grandest burl wood piano. All make my heart go pitter-patter.

So yesterday, I was at Barnes & Noble attempting to get a few last minute gifts when Edward discovered some toys that he desperately wanted. Naturally, he screamed at the top of his lungs the loudest ear-piercing scream I've ever heard. I'm pretty sure the entire store turned around in fear that I was kidnapping him. It was one of those awesome mom moments where you are equal-parts mortified and helpless because you know that this kid has nothing better to do than to get you to buy him a toy. So I dropped everything and walked out of the store, but this time, instead of being furious and annoyed, I held him tight and gave him lots of kisses. Because everything has changed.

Blue & White Moment in Traditional Home

I loved interior designer Lori Tippins' home featured in this month's Traditional Home. I always enjoy seeing how people display their blue and white.

I also loved her bedroom. The walls are painted Farrow & Ball Light Blue, a color I plan to use someday. I also love the pleated lampshades that match the walls. I have a thing for pretty pleated lampshades. This bedroom is perfection.

Suzeday Tuesday: Bathrooms & Powder Rooms

Hey y'all! Hope everyone had a lovely Fourth of July weekend! I know The Suze was partying hardy because she managed to go swimming with her phone. She has now forever lost her position as Judger of the Absurdly Negligent Phone Users in our house. Sorry about that Mom!

I don't know about y'all, but I'm exhausted. In the spirit of Independence Day, Edward took his first steps (yikes!). He also took advantage of the fact that we were not at home and made sure we knew that he would like to be rocked back to sleep every 2 to 3 hours throughout the night. I need a time-out.

Every mom out there knows that the best place to hide from your family is the bathroom. The best part is, the longer you're in there, the less likely they are going to come in and get you. Sometimes you just need 5 or 10 minutes to recharge. The Suze knows all about this. So here are some of the bathrooms and powder rooms that she's collected over the years, which I'm sure she imagined as a hiding spot from us wild children. She'll be in town next week to get in some granny smooches with the munchkin so I hope she'll bring me some more inspiration!

Office Inspiration from Architectural Digest

First, thank you all so much for your sweet comments here and on facebook. Yesterday just plain sucked. I spent half the morning crying and the other half huddled in our scary unfinished basement with my little Edward and our dog (not Cassie, that would be creepy) listening to the tornado sirens and the TV meteorologist spot tornadoes all over my neighborhood. None of them really touched down so we ended up being fine, but the stress of it all made me go out in search of Ho-Hos when the coast was clear.

I also picked up an Architectural Digest and thoroughly enjoyed the spread featuring Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne's new L.A. home designed by Martyn Lawrence-Bullard, whom you may remember from this post. Remember these?

Yeah, that's their house. It's pretty fab and not at all like the home they lived in when they filmed The Osbournes, but still rockstar. (Note: The Suze LOVED The Osbournes. In fact, our family often gathered around the TV together to watch it. We're intellectual like that). Anyway, the entire issue is pretty fab, but I loved Sharon Osbourne's office the most. It just looked like me (my husband would say it's because there is a dog in it, which may be partly true).

I also loved the office in this New York City home designed by David Kleinberg.

And while not an office, I can definitely see myself conducting business from this bathroom in all it's white gold-leafed mosaic tile fanciness.

But alas, I prefer to conduct business from the biscuit, and this one from the same New York home would do just fine (minus the cat - allergies - but add snuggly dog, a laptop and small diaper-clad child and I'm set).

Did anybody watch the last Oprah? I thought I would be sad, but it was a nice ending. I watched it last night and then I fliiped over to Oprah's OWN Oprah Winfrey Network and fell asleep to the sound of Oprah's voice telling me I be be whatever I want to be. She's not going anywhere y'all.
