Lulu's Listing: Dallas Dream House

Morning y'all!  On snowy days like this, I long to be back in Dallas.  My love for snow is completely dependent on its proximity to Christmas.  Now that I'm thinking Easter outfits, I'm not interested in a cold wintery mess.  I'm ready for Spring! Fortunately, my little sissy, Laura, found my dream house so I can at least move there in my mind.  It's been awhile since I've done a Lulu's Listing so some of y'all may not be familiar with it.  Basically, my sister has been a genius at finding pretty houses all over the country since she was about 5.  It's like some people are good at piano while others are more athletically inclined.  My sister is good at pretty houses.  

This house is very traditional, but also very open and light.  It was inspired by the architecture of A. Hays Town, which I am now realizing is my most favorite style ever.

Somebody get The Suze some smelling salts or a martini and a cigarette (just kidding, she doesn't smoke).  I'm pretty sure she's hyperventilating right now.  So much to love about this house, I can't even deal with it.  The screened-in porch, that little awning, the shutters, the windows, the balcony, the colors, the kitchen! It's soo good.  I can't even deal with it.

Lulu's Listing: Katharine Hepburn's Former Estate in Saybrook, CT

I know that many of y'all were concerned when you found out my littlest sissy, Laura (whom I affectionately call Lulu), just up and left us for college.  Did that mean no more Lulu's listings?  Would her studies get in the way of her bringing us fabulous real estate listings with pretty interiors?  I admit, I was worried and I thought it was pretty selfish of her to just leave us like that.  But then I got an email from her with the subject line: "pretty house!!" Two exclamation marks!! I knew it would be good.

And it is.

Behold.  Katharine Hepburn's Former Estate in Saybrook, CT.

In the 1930s and 1940s, Howard Hughes used to land his sea plane right in front of this house.  Apparently, you can too.  

According to the Sotheby's listing:

In 2005, New York Builder Frank Sciame embarked on a complete renovation of the property. Bringing to bear his experience restoring some of New York City's greatest landmarks including the New York Public Library and St. Patrick's Cathedral, he oversaw the project which included raising the structure five feet to protect it from the Long Island Sound. All new systems were installed, and the historic structure was seamlessly augmented to create light-filled rooms while preserving the historical integrity of the structure.

Lulu's Listing: A Girl Can Dream ...

Morning y'all! My sissy sent me this new listing with the subject "A Girl Can Dream ..." and oh my gosh was she right.  This is the closest thing to my dream home yet.  In fact, this was the house my childhood friend grew up in, although it looked very different (but still gorgeous).  I loved this house even then and I often think if I ever build my own house it would be inspired by this home.  It was originally designed by the famous Dallas architect Hal Thompson and has since been restored by Wilson Fuqua and Cathy Kincaid.  When I see those names attached to a Dallas home, I know it's going to be good.  And, y'all, it's gooooood.  Oh Lawd, is it good!
