Pattern Love: Pierre Frey's Toile de Nantes

Morning y'all!  While I'm on the topic of patterns and fabrics I lurve (see yesterday's post on Schumacher's Gordian Weave by Kelly Wearstler), here's another one of my faves: Pierre Frey Toile de Nantes.

Here it is in Aerin Lauder's East Hampton home:

Here it is used in an entryway of a New York apartment by Celerie Kemble:

Mario Buatta used it all over this canopy, and I love it.

I'm pretty sure the fabric on the walls and daybed is the same Pierre Frey Toile de Nantes you see above, but it was credited here as Colefax & Fowler Toile de Vence, so maybe this entire post is wrong thus exposing me as a total amateur fraud. But whatevs, I'm just here to show y'all pretty things.

And, boy, is it pretty.

What do y'all think?

P.S. Thank you, Katie, for the pillow link!

Pillow Help: Gordian Weave

Morning y'all! Thanks so much for your sweet comments about Edward :) I'm a proud obsessed mama for sure.

Ok so I need some help y'all.  I love the Schumacher Gordian Weave fabric by Kelly Wearstler and I'm pretty set on using it in our new family room. You may remember my working moodboard:

I just can't find anything else I love as much as the Gordian Weave.  My best friend had it in her living room in walnut so that may be part of the reason I love it because it reminds me of her and I miss her.

The fabric is not cheap so I'm saving my monies to buy it if I have to have pillows made, but if y'all come across any pillows in this fabric please let me know!! Any size. I can make it work. I will reward you.  I don't know how yet, but I will find a way.  Autographed picture of Edward?

Blue and White Fabric Love

Morning y'all! I got so much done yesterday that I sort of feel like a rock star.  I wiped down all of the trim, doors, light switches and cabinets, which sounds kind of silly but it makes a huge difference (kind of like cleaning your windows).  I also touched up the trim and doors upstairs because I tend to run into things with the laundry basket.  I did manage to dip the bottom inch of my pony tail in the can of paint and then smear it all over my new white t-shirt.  Of course, I didn't realize this for a couple of hours so that's awesome.

Enough of my cleaning biznis, it's soo boring.  As I clean I'm always thinking blue and white (and sometimes pink, but not today).  These are some of the fabrics I'm considering to get the blue and white family room that yesterday's images inspired.  I'd love your opinions*!

* The new family room is white with white carpet, which probably won't last, and our sofas are a tan raffia and I'm thinking of adding big white euro shams and some smaller throw pillows in one of these fabrics.  I also want to reupholster some bamboo chairs I have in one of these fabrics as well.  I'll probably try to use the same fabric all around to keep it simple.  Finally, we have a black and white striped awning outside the big window.  There now you have the deets.

This first fabric is so much cuter in person.  I stumbled upon it while I was meandering through Calico Corners.  It is called Medallion Handprint in Lake and it's currently the front runner**.

Here's a closer look at the print:

** UPDATE: after I finished this post, I had a new front runner.  ADD much? (see below)

I also really liked the idea of this Robert Allen fabric for the bamboo chairs, but I haven't seen it in person.  Yesterday, Our French Inspired Home commented that sometimes the ratio of blue and white is off, preferring more white than blue.  I totally agree.  I definitely want this room to be more white than blue.

Perhaps I should go with a classic toile instead?

Like this Toile Orientale (** NEW FRONTRUNNER),

Or this Grand Toile?

I think I prefer the first toile for the white to blue ratio.  My only concern about the toile is that our kitchen is covered in a black and white toile wallpaper that I plan on keeping for awhile.  The rooms are next to one another, but not necessarily open to each other, but I don't want to be "toile lady."

Then there's the trusty ikat.  But will I love it in 5 years? Does it matter?

Ok people, if you've stuck with me to the end of this incredibly long post, then you must be true blue and white fabric lovers.  Tell me what you think!

Giggles, Cuddles and a Beautiful Spring Morning

view from my backyard

There's nothing like a happy, cuddly munchkin and a beautiful spring morning to bring me out of a state of travel-induced exhaustion.  This view is one of my absolute favorite things about our house.  Edward is kind enough to make sure I wake up early enough to enjoy these types of mornings.  Early morning is actually my favorite time of day despite the fact that I have to wake up, my least favorite thing to do.  I live in a world of extremes clearly.

My delay in posting this morning is due to Edward's particularly snuggly and giggly mood, giving me multiple hugs in between bouts of laughter.  I wish I knew why so I could recreate it every morning.  Toddlers are moody like teenagers, but instead of sulking off to a corner and glaring at you, they yell and throw themselves on the floor.  They also rebound at an alarming rate and go from shooting lasers out of their eyes to floating on clouds of flowers and rainbows.  And when they're in the mood to be sweet and loving, it is the greatest thing ever. It can cure any form of general malaise, just like Spring.

Here are a few more pictures of springtime in and around my house.

More flowers from Trader Joe's.  I just shoved them in the vase and probably could have done a better job of arranging them, but I'm too lazy.  The three books underneath the flowers have been greatly influencing my style lately.  P.S. My new pillow cases arrived.  As soon as my throw blanket is here I will share pictures in the form of an amazing before and after.  My mother-in-law found pictures on her computer of our living room and kitchen when my husband first bought the house and it was barf-worthy.  Just wait.

The hyacinths on the entry table smell amazing.  They are easily becoming my new favorite flower.

My Paule Marrot Tulips print that makes me happy when I look at it.  The Suze says it reminds her of something she had in the 70s.  She did have an amazing fern print fabric on her sofa that is back in style.

I'm trying to hide the brick sink under a bunch of flowers like it's a patio.  Hyacinths in the bathroom are a far superior solution to room spray or potpourri.  Just FYI.

My new pelmet box using Charlotte Moss' Caroline fabric for Fabricut in pool.  It reminds me a lot of David Hicks' The Vase, which you can see below.

Love The Vase.  Love it.  (also love the Porthault pillow in the picture above)

And finally, Edward had a playdate at the park yesterday and soon after we arrived the storm clouds rolled in.  The combination of the dark gray clouds behind the gorgeous purplish pink budding trees and the bright green grass was beyond beautiful.  I'm thinking Monday's moodboard may have to be inspired by these pictures.   The colors were so gorgeous and inspiring.

This is a super random post I know.  Have a lovely day y'all!

Charlotte Moss for Calico Corners

Morning y'all! The massive closet clean-out is going so well, I might even have to go out and buy myself some new clothes ;) But really, I do need some new clothes.  It's been about two years since I last fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes and some of them just seem old and out of style.

When it comes to shopping, I very much prefer shopping for my home to shopping for myself.  So yesterday, in the midst of my closet clean-out, I realized I needed more coffee, so where did I go?  Calico Corners, of course, to check for some new fabrics.  (That's pretty much how my brain works y'all)  I love playing in fabric stores.  Any kind.  Anywhere.  It's a happy place for me.

Anyway, I had no idea Charlotte Moss created a collection of fabrics for Calico Corners! Y'all know she's one of my faves and it's nice to see some prettiness available to us wee folk.

Here are some of my favorites:

Charlotte Moss Fabrics - Harriet (Mist)

Charlotte Moss Fabrics - Sarah (Bluebell)

Charlotte Moss Fabrics - Claire (Fairblanca)

Charlotte Moss Fabrics - Gertrude (Bluebell)

I want to use this next one in my bedroom:

Charlotte Moss Fabrics - Freya (Blue)

And this one would be cute in our powder room.

Charlotte Moss Fabrics - Caroline (Pool)

Charlotte Moss Fabrics - Isabel (Camelia)

Charlotte Moss Fabrics - Charlotte (Mist)

Pretty right? Ok off to my closet to finish the great purge. Have a lovely day y'all!

Playroom Fabric

We interrupt The Suzeday Files with an important message from Lady Indecisive.  I think I found my playroom fabric.  I saw it and it made me want to play.  The Suze agreed.

Completely opposite of what I originally intended.  I'm annoying myself at this point.
