Monday Monograms

via Full House

Thornton Designs

Morning y'all! I decided I don't have enough monograms in my house to accurately reflect my southern style.  I don't know why.  Maybe it's because I haven't found a good monogram person in Kansas City.  I'm going to deal with this little sitch in my new house.  In addition to the images above, I kind of love this pillow from Number Four Eleven in Savannah:

It would lend itself to a much softer palette in my family room, which I'm not totally sure I want.  I tend to get bored with too much neutral, but it's so pretty.  Just a thought.  Enjoy your day!

Suzeday Tuesday: Dining Delight

The guestie from my bestie is having technical difficulties, so we get Suzeday Tuesday today! I pretty much never use my dining room, which is a shame because I have more china than I know what to do with and I love to cook and feed people.  It's just that in the summer we tend to have a lot more BBQs than dinner parties. These dining rooms would definitely motivate me to do something a little fancier now and then.   I love all of these dining rooms.  The white walls are calling my name again.  I love how fresh it looks and how it really draws your attention to the gorgeous pieces in the room.

I love this classic dining room with the pleated, monogrammed slipcovers.

I love the round table and the leather chairs for more intimate dining.

This dining room by Nicky Haslam is so cozy and romantic ...

Clearly The Suze likes slipcovers.  Me too.  Me toooo.

I need to find someone in Kansas City who can do slipcovers that aren't too too 'spensive.  I want some white slipcovers with a little scallop across the bottom.  I also want to slipcover everything in my house right now, including my dog who won't stop shedding.  I'm craving some clean surfaces free of stuck on cheerios and dog hair.

Suzeday Tuesday: Monograms

Kathy Lee and Hoda have Boozeday Tuesday, so I thought why not Suzeday Tuesday? You can Boozeday on Suzeday Tuesday if you'd like.  It's 5 o'clock somewhere right?

Here's a lovely little collection of monograms from The Suzeday Files.  The Suze loves a monogram, as do I.  Who doesn't really? Maybe hipsters who are so cool the schoolboard canceled school (I stole that from Tina Fey's Bossypants). Anyway, I'm usually somewhat of a traditionalist, but I love to find a new way of monogramming.  It's the advertising major in me. It's like a personal logo that you can put on everything, like Donald Trump, but subtler and classier.

Gorgeous Monogrammed Linens from Leontine Linens

Love this engraved door lock! The Suze still loves to have most of her engraving done at Potter & Anderson in Peoria, Illinois.  She's loyal like that and they are fabulous.  Looks like she'll be sending a bunch of door locks their way?

It's a fact that when I got married I had a brief moment of panic at the DMV when they told me I could not keep my maiden name as my middle name.  But what will my monogram be???? Stressful.  For the record, I love my middle name so I'm happy to keep it, especially because both my maiden name and my last name end in -son which sounds ridiculous. But the laziness of the government has now ensured that in the future, history will show that my family lineage disappeared when I got married.  Rude.  And confusing nonetheless.
