A Lovely Sea Island Cottage

I don't know 'bout y'all, but I'm ready for the beach.  Luckily, we get to go to Sea Island again this summer! I cannot wait.  It's my happy place.  We're not staying in the cottage I'm sharing with you today, but it was among the contenders.  Of course, my little real estate guru sister found it and gave me the ok to share it with you since we're not renting it - she didn't want anybody to steal it.

I actually posted about this house in my round-up of house pictures from our last Sea Island trip.  The stalker voyeur lover of pretty interiors in me is very excited to finally see the inside.

I mean, really?  Who gets that as their beach house? I love the soft cool color palette, which is an absolute necessity in the hot, humid summer.  I don't mind the heat because it forces you to relax.  You literally can't get out of your lounge chair, for fear of overexerting yourself and suffering heat stroke, except to maybe cool off in the pool or the ocean.  It's wonderful.

See here for rental information.

In The Big Move news, I'm heading out to get some boxes so I can pack up all of the unnecessaries.  Anybody who would come to my house today would know the entire history of my life and my family just by looking at pictures.  I love being surrounded by family photos, but prospective home buyers might be a little overwhelmed.  I also have lots of little tchotchkes on display that should probably be removed as well.  So that is my task for today.  That and cross one item off of The Big Clean checklist. Lots to do!

Lulu's Listing: La Jolla, CA

Morning y'all! It's been awhile since we've had a Lulu's Listing.  Our little Lulu has been busy studying for exams, ACTs, and filling out college applications, which means she hasn't had time to procrastinate browse real estate listings.  I'm so proud of my little baby sister for all of the hard work she's doing! She did manage to sneak in a couple searches and came up with this adorable blue and white beach-side cottage in La Jolla, CA.  It looks as though it's no longer on the market, but it is soo Belclaire House that I just had to share it.

Charming!

Katie Couric's New Hamptons Cottage

Guhlfriend is livin' the dream.  Fresh off the announcement that Katie Couric will be hosting her own daytime talk show,  the fellow blue and white lover is showing off her fancy new 7,000 square foot East Hampton home in Cottages & Gardens magazine.  The bubbly blue and white brigadier (oh yes) renovated her new retreat with the help of her landscape architect sister, Clara Couric Batchelor.  Ms. Couric if you're reading this (hey, you never know!), I'm a really good house guest.  I'm clean and judging by the numerous bottles of wine I received as a gift while I was pregnant, people like to drink with me (I drink just enough to be fun but not a liability), I also bring gifts and will cook you dinner.  Believe me, you want to invite me to your beach house.

At the risk of getting uninvited to her beach house, I have to share my favorite clip of Katie from the Today show.

The Suzeday Files: Dream Cottage on the Beach

Ok y'all, The Suze has A LOT of torn magazine and book pages.  Thirty years worth! No joke. It's going to take me awhile to organize them and it's not going to be this weekend because I have to go to the beach. I know ... tough beans as The Suze would say.  So in honor of my little vacay, I present you with this beach house edition of The Suzeday Files.  She ripped this whole article right out of the July 2005 issue of Veranda.  The Suze meant business.  She even labeled the article "Beach House," which is code for "it will be mine."

Total coinkydink that this house is located in the WaterColor community of Florida because it is LITrally the color of water (said in Rachel Zoe's voice).  It is a bluish greenish shade of awesome that every one of my friends will tell you reminds them of me. Probably because it is my favorite color in the world.  My. Favorite. Color. In. The. World. Also note the delightful curtain/trim things going on.

I love when this color is used alone as part of a monochromatic color scheme.  Tell me, could y'all live in a house that was all one color? If so, which color?
